Get Involved: AGAPE SERVICE READERS NEEDED

  There is a wonderful tradition of reading the gospel (John 20:19 – 25) in multiple languages at the Agape Service on May 5 at 11:00 am. If you read another language besides Greek or English and would like to volunteer, please speak with Father Tom. We look forward to having the gospel proclaimed throughout the world in multiple languages.

“Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord.”

  The hymn of Palm Sunday offers three important concepts for us. The first is that even before Christ’s passion and resurrection, He showed us God’s power over death. By raising Lazarus, who had been in the tomb for four days thus confirming his death, he provides for the believers the opportunity to see what is to ultimately happen in the coming days, and is therefore, the precursor of Christ’s Resurrection. In the raising of Lazarus we witness both the Divine and the Human aspects of Christ. In His Resurrection we witness and share in the restoration of humanity by God. This act confirms for us as believers, the power of God and the victory of life over death. As St. Paul proclaims, ‘death no longer has dominion,’ and thus, great joy reverberates in the hymn of today. This brings us to the second point. All present are welcome, however, to partake of the antidoro (blessed bread) which is distributed at the end of the service. April 25, 2024 Dear Philoptochos Members, The success of our Cathedral’s Philoptochos Ministry relies on your generous and giving spirit. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for your support over the last several months. The mission of the Philoptochos Ministry is to: promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic outreach, preserve the sanctity of family, assist the needy, and perpetuate and promote our Orthodox faith and tradition. We have continued to fulfill our mission through community outreach and charitable initiatives. Thus far in 2024, our Chapter has participated in the following: Celebrated Vasilopita Sunday with a donation to the Hellenic Cardiac Fund Donated new blankets and 100 pairs of new socks to The Women’s Lunch Place in Boston Provided baked treats and donated new non-skid socks to all 115 residents of the Hellenic Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Hosted 6 Lenten dinners for the community after the Presanctified Liturgy Coordinated and ordered fl
