Philoptochos General Membership Meeting

April 25, 2024

Dear Philoptochos Members,

The success of our Cathedral’s Philoptochos Ministry relies on your generous and giving spirit. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for your support over the last several months.

The mission of the Philoptochos Ministry is to: promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic outreach, preserve the sanctity of family, assist the needy, and perpetuate and promote our Orthodox faith and tradition. We have continued to fulfill our mission through community outreach and charitable initiatives. Thus far in 2024, our Chapter has participated in the following:
  • Celebrated Vasilopita Sunday with a donation to the Hellenic Cardiac Fund
  • Donated new blankets and 100 pairs of new socks to The Women’s Lunch Place in Boston
  • Provided baked treats and donated new non-skid socks to all 115 residents of the Hellenic Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
  • Hosted 6 Lenten dinners for the community after the Presanctified Liturgy
  • Coordinated and ordered flowers to decorate the church and icons throughout Lent, Holy Week, and Pascha
  • Hosted receptions for the community following the Annunciation Feast Day and Vesper Services
  • Coordinated the community Easter Bake Sale
  • Donated and dyed eggs for the Anastasi Service
  • Donated more than $16,000 to various nonprofit organizations since January 2024
I invite you to join us for a General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, June 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral Center located at 162 Goddard Ave. in Brookline to learn more about our work. You will have an opportunity to meet a guest speaker who leads one of the organizations we have supported over the years. In addition, a wide array of information will be shared. We hope to see you there.

With love in Christ,

Aglaia Georgountzos
President, Philoptochos
